The 2018 edition of the “Salieri-Zinetti” Competition will be held in the period 4-9 September in Verona and Mantua (Italy).

The deadline for applications is June 4th, 2018.


"Salieri-Zinetti" International Chamber Music Competition is open to groups ranging from duo to sextet. The group members’ average age must be less than 35 years old on the date of 4th June 2018. Free repertoire including at least two compositions of contrasting style and period. First Prize:10,000 euros and a concert tour (including a "New York Recital Debut"). The Competition Festival is hosted at the best Venetian Villas. The Competition is co-promoted by the Conservatories of Verona and Mantua and by the University of Verona.

Here are the results of the 2016 “Salieri-Zinetti” International Competition.

The first prize – “Cattolica Assicurazioni Foundation” Award for excellence, consisting of a scholarship of 10,000 Euros and 10 concerts, was won by the Duo Croisé-Shevchenko (France-Russia) formed by Jean Christoph Croisé, cello, and Oxana Shevchenko, piano. The Duo also won the "New York Recital Debut" Special Award.

The second prize - "Banca Popolare di Verona" Award for excellence, a scholarship of 4,000 Euros and 4 concerts, was awarded to the Ebonit Saxophone Quartet (Netherlands-Germany-Poland) formed by Simone Müller, soprano saxophone, Dineke Nauta, alto saxophone, Johannes Pfeuffer, tenor saxophone, and Paulina Kulesza, baritone saxophone. The Quartet was also awarded the "Cicerone Music & Art" Special Award.

The third prize - "Federmanager Verona" Award for excellence, consisting of a grant of 2,000 Euros and 2 concerts, was given ex aequo to two ensembles: the Duo Sciolto (Spain), made up by Alexandre Gallego Medal, saxophone, and Gabriel Lopez Rodriguez, piano, who won an extra premium, "Cicerone Music & Art" Supporting Award, and the Duo Sonoro, formed by the Ukrainian Andrii Pavlov, violin, and Valeriia Shulga, piano. Andrii Pavlov also received the Diploma of the Jury as the "Best Violinist" of the 2016 competition set up by the "Rotary Club Legnago" in memory of the recently departed Juan Carlos Rybin, violinist and Rotary member.

Finally another important prize was awarded in a special section of the competition called “Masi Foundation” Recording Award for the Venetian Culture. The prize, which is awarded to a recording project based on the proposal of compositions made by Venetian composers, was awarded to the Milano Saxophone Quartet formed by Damiano Grandesso, soprano saxophone, Stefano Papa, alto saxophone, Massimiliano Girardi, tenor saxophone, and Livia Ferrara, baritone saxophone. The Quartet has proposed a recording project dedicated to the work of Gian Francesco Malipiero, the great Venetian composer of the last century, entitled: “Rispetti e strambotti: the XX Century Venetian music with the colours of the sax”. The winners will receive 5,000 Euros, concerts and the recording of a CD distributed worldwide by Masi Foundation.

"Salieri - Zinetti" International Chamber Music Competition is pleased to announce the partnership created with Cicerone Music & Art, an important Dutch organization that has been operating for over 20 years in the sectors of Artist management and Festival organization. The goal of this collaboration is to give even more visibility to the talented winners of the Competition. (More info)


At the same time “Salieri - Zinetti” Competition is glad to announce that the partnership which was created with the New York Chamber Music Festival continues in 2016 too. Thanks to this agreement, NYCMF will grant a Special Award to the 2016 Competition winning ensemble consisting in the unique possibility to perform its New York Recital Debut in the framework of the 2017 edition Festival.
